APPROACH:
God invites us to worship
WELCOME
CALL TO WORSHIP:
based on Psalm 61:1-3
Cry out to the Lord Almighty, that he might listen to your prayer;
Call out to him from the ends of the earth, when your heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,
for you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy!
PRAYER OF INVOCATION:
Lord we long to hear your voice, but in the noise of the world around us, our ears are often hard of hearing.
Give us understanding by your Spirit so we can worship our Redeemer in faith, hope, and love. Amen.
SONG OF PRAISE:
Rejoice
1. Come and stand before your maker
Full of wonder full of fear
Come behold his power and glory
Yet with confidence draw near
For the one who holds the heavens
And commands the stars above
Is the God who bends to bless us
With an unrelenting love
CHORUS 1
Rejoice!
Come and lift your hands and raise your voice.
He is worthy of all praise.
Rejoice!
Sing the mercies of your king
And with trembling rejoice.
2. We are children of the promise
The beloved of the Lord
Won with everlasting kindness
Bought with sacrificial blood
Bringing reconciliation
To a world that longs to know
The affections of a father
Who will never let them go (to chorus 1)
3. All our sickness all our sorrows
Jesus carried up the hill
He has walked this path before us
He is walking with us still
Turning tragedy to triumph
Turning agony to praise
There is blessing in the battle
So take heart and stand amazed
CHORUS 2
Rejoice
When you cry to him he hears your voice
He will wipe away your tears
Rejoice
In the midst of suffering
He will help you sing
(to chorus 1)
HEARING GOD’S WORD:
Habakkuk 1:12-17; 2:1
12 Are you not from everlasting,
O Lord my God, my Holy One?
We shall not die.
O Lord, you have ordained them as a judgment,
and you, O Rock, have established them for reproof.
13 You who are of purer eyes than to see evil
and cannot look at wrong,
why do you idly look at traitors
and remain silent when the wicked swallows up
the man more righteous than he?
14 You make mankind like the fish of the sea,
like crawling things that have no ruler.
15 He brings all of them up with a hook;
he drags them out with his net;
he gathers them in his dragnet;
so he rejoices and is glad.
16 Therefore he sacrifices to his net
and makes offerings to his dragnet;
for by them he lives in luxury,
and his food is rich.
17 Is he then to keep on emptying his net
and mercilessly killing nations forever?
I will stand at my watch
and station myself on the ramparts;
I will look to see what he will say to me,
and what answer I am to give to this complaint.
This is the Word of the Lord
Thanks be to God!
PRAYER OF LAMENT:
How Long?
How long? Will You turn Your face away?
How long? Do You hear us when we pray?
On and on, still we walk this pilgrim way – How long?
How long ’til Your children find their rest?
How long ’til You draw them to Your breast?
We go on holding to Your promises – How long?
‘Til You wipe away the tears from ev’ry eye
‘Til we see our home descending from the sky
Do we wait in vain?
Jesus, give us hope again!
silent prayer
How long ’til Your word will still the storm?
How long ’til You bare Your mighty arm?
How we groan ’til You snatch us from the thorns – How long?
How long? Sweet the dawn that ends the race.
How long? Weak our hearts but strong our legs.
Looking on – great that cloud of witnesses! How long?
‘Til You wipe away the tears from ev’ry eye
‘Til we see our home descending from the sky
Do we wait in vain?
Jesus, give us hope again!
silent prayer
How long? Will You turn Your face away?
How long? Do You hear us when we pray?
On and on, still we walk this pilgrim way – How long?

CELEBRATING THE LORD’S SUPPER
REFRAIN:
Mt. Zion
We have come to Mt. Zion.
The city of the living God.
The heavenly Jerusalem.
By His blood we have come.
By His blood we have come.
COMMUNION SONG:
Come Ye Souls By Sin Afflicted
1. Come ye souls by sin afflicted,
Bowed with fruitless sorrow down;
By the broken law convicted,
Through the cross behold the crown;
Look to Jesus; Look to Jesus;
Look to Jesus; Mercy flows through Him alone.
2. Take His easy yoke and wear it;
Love will make your obedience sweet;
Christ will give you strength to bear it,
While His grace shall guide your feet
Safe to glory, Safe to glory,
Safe to glory, where His ransomed captives meet.
3. Blessed are the eyes that see Him,
Blest the ears that hear His voice;
Blessed are the souls that trust Him,
And in Him alone rejoice;
His commandments, His commandments,
His commandments then become their happy choice.
4. Sweet as home to pilgrims weary,
Light to newly opened eyes,
Like full springs in deserts dreary,
Is the rest the cross supplies;
All who taste it, All who taste it,
All who taste it shall to rest immortal rise.
Look to Jesus; Look to Jesus;
Look to Jesus; Mercy flows through Him alone.
COMMISSIONING:
God sends us out in his power
CLOSING SONG:
When Trials Come
1. When trials come no longer fear
For in the pain our God draws near
To fire a faith worth more than gold
And there His faithfulness is told
And there His faithfulness is told
2. Within the night I know Your peace
The breath of God brings strength to me
And new each morning mercy flows
As treasures of the darkness grow
As treasures of the darkness grow
3. I turn to wisdom not my own
For ev’ry battle You have known
My confidence will rest in You
Your love endures Your ways are good
Your love endures Your ways are good
4. When I am weary with the cost
I see the triumph of the cross
So in its shadow I shall run
Till You complete the work begun
Till You complete the work begun
5. One day all things will be made new
I’ll see the hope You called me to
And in Your kingdom paved with gold
I’ll praise Your faithfulness of old
I’ll praise Your faithfulness of old
I’ll praise Your faithfulness of old
I’ll praise Your faithfulness of old
