The Christian Faith

Council of Nicea

Christ Presbyterian Church wholeheartedly embraces the historic Christian Faith as it is expressed in the ecumenical creeds of the world-wide and western church.

    The Reformed Tradition

Christ Presbyterian Church is committed to the theological heritage of the Protestant Reformation. We are members of the Presbyterian Church in America, a group of churches whose unifying beliefs are summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

    In Brief:

    • Trinity: There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    • Creation: God made all things and made them very good.

    • Humanity was created in the image and likeness of God.

    • Sin: We are all sinners, have made a mess of things, and are utterly unable to save ourselves.

    • Salvation is the gift of God from first to last, accomplished 2000 years ago and received through faith in Jesus, God's Messiah.

    • Jesus is God become man, fully God and fully man, who through his perfect life, sacrificial death, and glorious resurrection took away the sins of all who will trust in Him for salvation. He will return in power, bodily and visibly, to judge humanity and to receive his people to himself.

    • Covenant: God is gracious and faithful to his people not simply as individuals, but as families and as a community.

    • The Holy Spirit, who is equally God, now indwells God’s people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow him.

    • Christian Life: all aspects of our lives are to be lived for God's glory under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
    • The End: when Jesus returns, he will bring history to a close and consummate the Kingdom of God.
    • Scripture: The Bible is the written word of God, infallible in all that it teaches and authoritative in all matters of life.
